          6. According to the state government notification, these IPS officers include the district police chiefs of Muktsar and Tarn Taran.

          Among the IPS officers shifted include Harmanbir Singh Gill, who was posted as Muktsar senior superintendent of police (SSP).

          Gill will now report to the director general of police (DGP).

          Further IPS officer BS Meena is shifted as Muktsar SSP and will replace Gill, the government notification stated. The transfer of Gill is seen as a fallout of six Muktsar policemen, including an SP-rank officer, booked for allegedly torturing an advocate.

          Earlier the former SP of Muktsar along with two other policemen were arrested in the matter on Wednesday.

          As per the government notification, IPS officer Gurmeet Singh Chauhan, who was earlier the Tarn Taran SSP, will now report to the state DGP.
