          Who Was Martin Luther King, Jr.

          He was the son of a preacher and an educator.

          As a child, he attended segregated schools in Georgia, and as an adult, he fought for the desegregation of America. Martin Luther King, Jr. was the icon of the civil rights movement in America, and his message of non-violent resistance and social change carried around the world. 

          King was born on January 15, 1929, in Atlanta, Georgia.
